Aptina, a leading provider of CMOS image sensor solutions to the industry’s digital still and video camera manufacturers and OEMs, today introduced its new 1/3-inch native full high-definition (HD) 1080p30 video sensor with support for electronic image stabilization (EIS). The sensor uses a 2.2-micron pixel design integrating Aptina™ A-Pix™ technology that provides excellent low-light performance, supports parallel interface options and 2-lane MIPI® output, giving camera designers more flexibility with image processing solutions. The cost-effective AR0330CS image sensor provides 3.2-megapixel still image captures, and stunning overall image and HD video quality for consumer pocket digital video (DV), camcorder, web, sports action and video conferencing and other camera applications.
Lower BOM costs and Great Performance
The AR0330CS enables digital video camera designs at consumer price points, addressing the growing demand for high-quality HD video. “The AR0330CS offers a rich feature set together with excellent low-light performance and stunning overall video quality,” said Mr. Harry Peng, General Manager of TCL digital technology LTD. “We chose the AR0330CS because it will enable TCL to make a high performance camcorder to compete with much higher priced alternatives in the market today.”
Early responses from Aptina customers regarding the 2.2-micron pixel sensor are very favorable. Because of this performance, Aptina is able to provide customers with the high quality they are looking for in a digital video camera imaging sensor. “Vivid color rendering in daylight is imperative for HD video, and this is a strong AR0330CS advantage for our products to leverage,” said Terry Tang CEO of Skylight.
The AR0330CS is offered in a small form factor CSP package design (6.28mm x 6.65mm), allowing for the development of ultra compact digital video cameras. |
